Jo is my good friend, she was recently admitted to Taipei University of the Arts. Let's give her a round of applause first. Ha-ha-ha (a super bad pun). Recently, I was commissioned by her to take a professional portrait of myself as a screenwriter (actually, I'm also an actor). Being a screenwriter means writing words into scripts that can be read, imagined, and reproduced by directors and actors.

I once needed to write a script in my department. The moment I finished writing the script at the end of the semester, it immediately became a black history. I thought that screenwriting was a job that only ghosts could do, but I didn’t expect that there was a ghost around me.

I have read several of Jo's plays, including "Silence" and "The Seventh Day". 𨑨迌", "Heavy Rain During the Qingming Festival", the connection between people and emotions is inseparable, and it is difficult for me not to be moved by the complex emotions between people in the traditional society. It seems that a huge snowball has been piled up, but when the spring sun rises, it has melted into the ground and become a part of this land.

This was my interpretation of Jo’s script, and it informed how I shot this portrait.

Jo's writing makes people feel warm, and I think the natural light studio we chose this time really adds a lot to Jo's image. We chose two sets of clothing, one is a formal suit jacket, which gives a formal and rigorous character. In the natural light environment, everything is not so rigid and standardized. Everything can be discussed and flexibly shaped, which is in line with Jo's literal image.

For the other set, we chose a burgundy shirt, headband and large hoop earrings. I don't know why, and I can't put my finger on what elements, but they added a Chinese red and religious touch to Jo's image, enough to make me believe that Jo seemed to know tarot cards (?). But this is what I wanted. I wanted Jo to present an image of a writer who can write religious texts, and I like this attempt, and I hope Jo will like it too.
